Key DSUK Principles for Providing Donations
  • Purpose and Benefit: Donations are given for the purpose of supporting healthcare, scientific research or education.
  • No Influence: Donations must not be used to influence the prescribing, purchasing or recommendation of DSUK medicines.  They should be given without any expectation of return or benefit.
  • Transparency: In accordance with ABPI requirements, details of each donation provided will be publicly disclosed with details of the amount or value, and the recipient organisation.
Overview of Available DSUK Donation-Based Services

In line with the principles outlined above, Daiichi Sankyo (DSUK) has funded and helped to develop specific Lipid Management Services to support NHS organisations.

These initiatives, to varying degrees, aim to help HCOs:

  • Identify patients who require review and optimisation of their lipid management.
  • Risk stratify patients into cohorts according to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) [CHOL003 and CHOL004 indicators] and enable GP practices to achieve their QOF targets.
  • Improve patient outcomes through educating and supporting GP practices to deliver lipid therapy reviews and medicine optimisation in-line with local and national guidelines.
What DSUK Donation-Based Services are Available?

Therapy Optimisation Programme (‘Therapy Reviews’)

This is a clinical therapy review service designed to assist practices in the implementation of a systematic approach to therapeutic lipid/cholesterol management in relation to primary and secondary prevention and is aligned to support national clinical strategies.

The purpose of therapy reviews is to identify patients in primary care who require review and optimisation of their lipid/cholesterol management, based on a set of clinical criteria agreed with the lead physician of the GP practice.

The service is delivered by a third-party provider, Inspira Health.

This dashboard includes tools and resources to assist the primary care physician in identifying and risk stratifying patients who's lipid/cholesterol management could be optimised. The prescriber can use the collated information from the dashboard to make their own informed clinical decision to improve the management of their patients in accordance with local and national prescribing protocols.

This service is delivered by the third party provider, Interface Clinical Services.

Cardiovascular and Lipid Data Capture Tool

The Cardiovascular and Lipid Data Capture tool provides healthcare organisations (HCO) with a quick way to securely and anonymously record and pool information relating to their patients with dyslipidaemia and hypercholesterolaemia.

Information collected and collated within the tool includes general medical and cardiovascular (CV) history, blood lipid values, blood pressure, total CV risk, lipid-lowering treatments, as well as patients’ lipid goals.  From this information, clinicians can retrospectively review patients’ outcomes from their clinics and this can help inform clinical governance decisions for the HCO.

To apply for the CV and Lipid Data Capture tool please download and complete this request form and send it to: Grantsanddonations@daiichi-sankyo.co.uk
